Victorian Bird Talon Brooch

$0.00

This product is unavailable

Bird claws and talons were a favorite jewelry theme in the 19th century, given the Victorian fascination with the natural world. This realistically detailed brooch circa 1880 resembles a traditional Scottish grouse foot brooch, or perhaps was modeled after a majestic raptor like an eagle or hawk... but to be honest also resembles the foot of a chicken, sparrow or dragon.

I think it would make a fabulous wedding boutonniere, just imagine a rose tucked under the claws!

Details: Measuring approximately 2 1/2" long and 1 3/8" wide including the tips of the feet. Not marked but XRF test to sterling silver.

Condition: In excellent condition with a light patina but no disfiguring dents, dings or scratches. The tube hinge and c-clasp are in firm working order.
