Victorian Etruscan Revival Garnet Locket

$2,400.00

An elegant Etruscan Revival Victorian locket circa 1875; crafted in 14k yellow gold featuring a glittering natural merlot-red garnet in the center of a floral cup on the front cover, surrounded by lush bead and filigree accents.

The back is plain and could be engraved with your choice of monogram initials, or perhaps a special date; with its deep inner chamber it's perfect for a photo or small keepsake such as a lock of hair.

Please contact us before purchase if you are interested in the details of our engraving service.

Details: Measuring approximately 2 1/4" north to south including the large bail, and 1 1/4" east to west at the widest. Weighs approximately 16.3 grams. Not marked for gold content but XRF tests to 14k. Hung from an antique 19" gold-filled cable chain.

Condition: In excellent antique condition. It presents beautifully but there are some subtle areas of soft solder on the back and at the join of one of the finial caps to the bar under the bail, either repair or from the original construction. The back shows light scuffing and a few scratches. A teeny section of the filigree is absent at the very top of the bail. Please examine the photos. The hinged lid opens and shuts firmly and stays securely closed. We've kept the antique patina intact as it deepens the color of the gold, beautifully enhancing the details.
