Victorian Carnelian Signet Ring
A beautifully designed hollow-ware signet-style ring circa 1850, crafted in 14k rose gold featuring a richly saturated carnelian face. The shoulders are heavily chased in a lush floral motif; originally meant as a gentleman's signet, it's a wonderful choice as a dramatic statement for a feminine hand.
Details: Measuring approximately 5/8" north to south at the face. Not marked for gold content but professionally tests to 14k. Weighs approximately 5.2 grams.
Size: 10 1/2 and not resizable due to the hollow construction, a novel idea in 1850 with the technological advances in machinery and dies that could create such forms.
Condition: In excellent condition with a rich antique patina but no disfiguring dents or scratches, there is a lighter area of gold, a construction seam, at the center back of the band.
