Georgian Regency Turquoise & Pearl Ring

$1,500.00

Circa 1820, an antique Georgian turquoise and pearl halo ring in exquisite condition crafted in 14k gold with a rich buttery glow.

Featuring a bright turquoise paste center stone surrounded by natural pearls and tiny faceted jet; such a rare piece, it epitomizes all the romantic charm of the Regency era.

Details: Measuring approximately 7/16" north to south at the center front, tapering through to 2.37 mm at the center back. Not marked for gold content but acid tests to 14k.

Size: 6 1/4. Resizing is not recommended.

Condition: In excellent antique condition with some slight wear to the top of the turquoise stone, and light nacre loss to the pearls. Very comfortable on the finger with minimal age-related thinning to the band, with care it could serve well for another 200 years, though we do advocate removing antique rings for manual labor and intense activity.

History: Paste is essentially a tyoe of leaded glass developed in the 18th century initially as an alternative to higher priced diamonds and gemstones. It evolved to become popular in its own right and was sometimes used to acheive rich color effects in designs such as this ring.
