Victorian Etruscan Revival Citrine Necklace

$3,000.00

A truly elegant Victorian Etruscan Revival necklace circa 1875, featuring genuine citrine beads interspersed with golden spacers, finished with a large citrine briolette. The rich yellow color of the high karat gold and texture of the granulated details are a gorgous mix with the glittering honey color of the faceted stones.

Details: The beaded section has a necklace length of approximately 16 1/2", the drop of the large central citrine bead and briolette an additional 2 1/2". Not marked for gold content but the spacers XRF test to 16k, the caps on the large bead and the briolette to 18k and the clasp to 15k.

History: Etruscan Revival was an aesthetic movement begun in the early 19th century which drew inspiration from the archeological discoveries of the time in Pompeii and Herculaneum. This style of goldworking encompassed techniques lost since the decline of that civilization, the granulation and corded wire applications specifically, and it remained a popular decorative motif throughout the rest of the 19th century.
