Antique Essex Crystal Beagle Charm

I think this little doggo has the sweetest face: an early 20th century essex crystal beagle charm set in 14k, hung from a 14k cable chain. The details are so realistic, note the tiny spots on his snout where his whiskers sprout and gleam in his intelligent eye.

Details: Measuring approximately 10.3 mm in diameter, a hair under 7/16". Not marked for gold content but XRF tests to 14k, the 17" chain is marked for 14k on the lobster clasp. Approximately 2.7 grams total necklace weight.

Condition: In excellent condition with very minimal wear to the top of the crystal and some light marks on the back of the pendant.

History: True essex crystals such as this are crafted by carving the image on the underside of a rock crystal dome then painting it in for the detail and color. Usually backed with mother of pearl which gives them a shimmery glow underneath the crystal.
