Antique Cupid & Dog Cameo Ring

From the first half of the 19th century, this statement ring features an expertly carved shell cameo of Cupid cuddling a friendly dog; the image has traditional symbolic meaning referencing faithfulness, loyalty and steadfast love. Crafted in 9k gold with bezel setting and curved gallery so the cameo stays comfortably face up on the finger.

Details: Measuring approximately 1 3/16" north to south and 1" east to west across the cameo, with about a 1/4" rise above the finger when worn. The cameo has a slight wave in surface profile as it follows the natural shape of the shell and a natural inclusion near the dog's tail.

Condition: In excellent antique condition, the metal has a light patina and some wear around the edge of the bezel with areas of lighter colored solder, which may indicate previous slight repair. Still very sturdy with very wearable.
