Bloodstone Intaglio Signet "Virtute Non Sole Floreo" in 18k
Originally the focal point in an antique Georgian wax seal, this skillfully carved bloodstone intaglio was set at some point in its history in an 18k yellow gold signet mounting.
The oval stone features a hand extended upward holding a flowering branch with the latin motto "Virtute Non Sole Floreo," which our latin consultant translated to "I flourish with power, not with the sun," engraved on a ribbon banner underneath.
The bloodstone itself, with its deep rich color and intensely shaded iron oxide matrix, is a rare and beautiful example of this type of jasper.
