Art Deco Enamel Bubbles & Pan with Pipes Necklace

$475.00

I love the bold design of this antique guilloché enameled Art Deco necklace: a graphic combination of bubbles with a shadow profile of Pan playing his pipes, rendered in bright shades of blue on sterling silver.

According to ancient mythology Pan is the god of the wild woodlands, folk music and free musical expression. He manifests the unfettered side of the spirit as well as natural lustful urges, which might be why he was often represented with a phallus.

He was also patron of shepards and their flocks, and those who worshipped him did so in caves,  grottos or woodland settings, rather than temples.

Details: The main pendant measures approximately 1 3/16" long and 5/8" across, with a necklace length of 18 3/4". Marked for sterling on the back of the largest panel.

Condition: In excellent condition with a light patina but no chips or scratches to the enamel surfaces. The original bolt ring is in secure working order.
