Georgian Woven Hair Love Knot Ring
Circa 1820, an antique Georgian ring crafted in 10k rose gold featuring a glass dome covered love-knot woven of brown hair. The delicately articulated shoulders are an elegant textural contrast to the complexity of the hair work.
Possibly a mourning ring, it may also have been intended as a love token. There is no date engraved on the back as in most mourning pieces, just the beautifully inscribed initials "M.A.F."
Details: Measures approximately 9/16" north to south at the center front, with a 2.87 mm width at the center back of the band. Not marked for gold content but acid tests to around 10k.
Size: 8 1/2 scant. Resizable about two full sizes. Please contact us before purchase if you are interested in the details of our sizing service.
Condition: In excellent antique condition. Very comfortable on the finger with minimal age-related thinning to the band. With care it could serve well for another 200 years, though we do advocate removing antique rings for manual labor and intense activity.
