Antique Emerald Iberian Style Earrings in 18k
A pair of early 20th century drop earrings in 18k yellow gold set with natural emeralds, in the style of traditional workmanship common to the Iberian peninsula in the 18th and 19th century, an area which includes Portugal and Spain. The original lever-backs were replaced at some point by shepard's hook wires, and the delicate scale is easier on the lobe than some of the more massive examples.
Details: Measuring approximately 2 1/8" long from top of ear wire curve to bottom of the drop, with a combined weight of 6.8 grams for the pair. The emeralds are all natural with a rich velvety green color, the tear-drop at the bottom is set with a natural rose-cut diamond. Not marked for metal content but XRF test to 18k gold.
Condition: In excellent antique condition with some light wear to the stones and the gold, and dimpling to the backs of the settings.
