Victorian Buckle with Enamel & Pearl Locket

A lovely antique Victorian mourning locket crafted in 10k gold with a light rosy tint, featuring an elegant belt buckle motif on the front cover, accented by genuine seed pearls and black tracery enamel known as "basse-taille."

A sentimental remembrance piece, but also perhaps the perfect finishing touch for a gothic bride.

Originally meant to hold a daguerreotype, the compartment is deep enough to hold a small memento like a lock of hair or bit of fabric and is protected by the original glass paned lid. Details: The locket itself measures approximately 1 1/4" north to south, not including the decorated bail which adds 1/2" for a total drop of 1 3/4", and is 15/16" east to west at the widest point. Acid tested to 10k, the chain is marked for 10k on the clasp. Total necklace weight is approximately 12.5 grams. Strung on a fine antique 20" 10k curb chain that matches the color of the locket.

Condition: In excellent antique condition with a light patina but no disfiguring dents or scratches.
