Antique Chain with Golden Citrine Stations
Circa 1900, a luxe high karat lorgnette chain necklace featuring six natural and deeply golden citrine stations. Perfect for layering with other chains or beads, as well as an interesting way to hold your favorite locket or charms as the dog clip allows an easy on/off for pendants.
Details: Measuring approximately 49" long with the citrine stations approximately 6.5 mm in diameter. The chain XRF tests to 20k, the dog clip is 14k. Total weight approximately 11.8 grams.
Condition: In excellent condition with a light antique patina. The watch clip is in strong working order.
History: This type of long chain was known in the 19th century as a guard or lorgnette chain, sometimes made in lengths of 60" or more; they were used by ladies to hold utilitarian items like watches, spectacles or hand muffs, with the longer length allowing some freedom of movement.
