Vintage Filigree & Opal Heart Locket

A truly unique vintage mid-20th century locket, possibly of Portuguese origin. Meticulously hand-crafted in 19k yellow gold filigree, set with a large heart-shaped opal cabochon in the center and smaller round opal cabochon accents. The stones are natural, with intense color play and a glowing pink undertone set off by confetti flashes of bright teal, lime green, yellow, orange and purple.

Details: Approximately 1 1/4" north to south and 1 5/16" east to west. It opens to reveal space for two photos or a flattish memento like a like of hair, then closes with a satisfying snap. The locket weighs approximately 9 grams, the chain 4.8 grams. The locket has no markings but XRF tests to 19k. The chain is marked on the clasp.

Condition: In excellent condition. The Australian opals have several natural inclusions but are free of chips or surface abrasion.
