Victorian Gold Notebook Pendant
A Victorian "aide-memoire" or chatelaine notebook, crafted in yellow gold with ivory pages circa 1890. Little notes to oneself could be jotted down on the pages with a pencil, then wiped clean with a soft cloth and a little soap. The covers are hand-engraved around the borders with a truly lush floral pattern, and the back bears the initials "H.L.P." in a small cartouche.
Details: Measuring approximately 1 3/8" long, not including the bail, and 7/8" wide. Not marked for gold content but XRF tests to solid 10k. Weighs approximately 10.3 grams.
Condition: In excellent antique condition with a light patina and some surface rubbing inside the covers, but no dents or damage to the metal. The ivory pages have acquired a patina and some light staining from contact with oils and lotions over the last 135 or so years, with one small dark line that goes through the grain on the edge of one page.
