Georgian Rose Cut Diamond Studs
We've redesigned sparkling 18th-century Georgian foiled rose-cut diamond elements as stud earrings, salvaged from an antique brooch. The perfect delicate statement on their own, and a sweet touch of antique cachet added to your daily earlobe curation.
Details: Due to the nature of the setting we can't determine the diamond weight, but the stones measure approximately 2.7 mm, and the original sterling cut-down bezel cup settings are about 4.25 mm in diameter. The earrings have standard guage 14k posts and sturdy 14k push-backs.
Condition: In excellent antique condition with a slightly smoky oxidization of the foil.
History: Backing gemstones with foils was common practice in the Georgian period of the 18th and early 19th century as a way to enhance the reflective qualities and color of a jewel. It gives stones like this a lovely glitter in soft candle light as well as a brighter glow in modern halogen.
