Georgian Mourning Ring Dated 1808
I love the elegant simplicity of this Neo-Classical Georgian mourning ring: the black enamel face holds a deeply red garnet cabochon set on a diagonal, framed by golden fronds and a white enamel border. The back is engraved "Mary Cullen obt 19 July 1808, ae 24".
Details: Measuring approximately 7/16" north to south at the center front, and 5/8" east to west across the curved face. Not marked for gold content but XRF testst to 14k. Weighs approximately 4.4 grams.
Size: Size 6, because of the enamel detail sizing is not recommended.
Condition: In excellent antique condition with a rich patina and some moderate wear to the black enamel field with slight loss to the white border. The back of the band is slightly inconsistant in width, not noticeable when worn.
