Victorian Pavé Turquoise Pansy Necklace
Victorian pavé turquoise always makes my heart beat faster, finding this particular pansy pendant gave me actual palpitations. I've never seen another like it: mid-19th century and crafted in sterling silver, the flower set with seed pearls and turquoise cabochons. The mosaic-like colors of the stones, ranging in subtle variations from robin's egg to teal blue, is a natural product of age and many years of handling.
Details: Likely made in England, the pendant measures approximately 1 5/8" north to south including the decorative bail. Hung from an antique 17" sterling silver cable chain with a secure contemporary lobster clasp. Not marked for metal content but XRF tests to 925 silver (sterling).
Condition: In excellent condition with a rich patina and some visible natural matrix on the turquoise, but no significant scratches or cracks. The center cultured pearl is likely a replacement.
