A classic antique Victorian yellow gold-filled locket circa 1900 featuring a horseshoe on the front cover, set with sparkling diamond-cut paste. Sporting images and specifically horse themes were immensely popular in the 19th century; the horse was after all the main form of transportation and played an integral part in every day life.

The back of the locket is plain and could be engraved with monogram initials or a special date. Please send us a message before purchase if you are interested in the details of our engraving service.

Details: Measuring approximately 1 3/16" in diameter, the locket opens and closes securely with space inside for two photos, with the original photo holders. Hung from a fine 24" yellow gold-filled cable chain. Stamped inside with the maker's mark "W.& H. Co." inside a heart for The Wightman and Hough Co., manufacturing jewelers out of Providence, Rhode Island from 1856- 1926.

Condition: In excellent overall condition with a gentle antique patina speaking to its dignified age, and minimal wear to the plating. The paste appear to be all original, with subtle darkening .
