Enameled Indian Head Coin Pendant circa 1925
Perfect for the numismatic enthusiast, this 2 1/2 dollar gold Indian head was minted in 1925, and at some point in its history carefully enameled in stripes of bright primary colors. Likely meant as a watch fob for a gentleman's watch chain, it's held securely in a scrolled top 14k coin bezel.
Personally, I am fascinated by old coins; we hold them in our hands today as gleaming little momentoes but they're a meaningful connection to the material realities of lives lived a hundred or more years ago.
Details: Measuring approximately 1" high, including the bail, and 3/4" wide. The frame is 14k, the coin is 22k gold. Hung on a 19" 14k cable chain. Weighs approximately 7.4 grams total.
Condition: In excellent condition with a light patina and some subtle wear to the details, but nothing obvious or distracting. It seems there may have been something soldered to the back of the coin at one time, there is a small spot of solder under the eagle’s belly.
