Jugendstil Theodor Fahrner Hematite Necklace

$0.00

This product is unavailable

An antique Jugendstil necklace, circa 1910, hand-crafted in sterling silver, set with faceted hematite and signed for Theodor Fahrner.

The hammered texture and rich patina of the metal's surface is enhanced by delicately wrought filigree details, all playing to the smooth silvery gunmetal shimmer of the stone, complemented further by two creamy white pearls set in fluted cups.

The decorative arts movement "Jugendstil," translating to "youth style," was essentially the German counterpart to Art Nouveau. Fahrner was one of the most respected and well-known designers of the early 20th century, his company flourishing with exceptional early work such as this, and later achieving world renown with gorgeous Art Deco jewels.

DETAILS: Length of approximately 21", the pendant measures 3" long (including the girandole drops) and 1 5/8" wide. Marked on the back "sterling," "935," and with Fahrner's hallmark.

CONDITION: In excellent condition with some light wear to the stones and a gentle antique patina.
