Georgian Pearl Cluster Ring

$0.00

This product is unavailable

A sweet antique Georgian ring, circa 1820 crafted in yellow gold with a lustrous natural pearl cluster; a design reminiscent of a flower, the impression emphasized by the foliate design of the shoulders. Perhaps originally intended as a friendship or love token, as pearls have symbolic gemlore reference to purity and sincere devotion.

Details: Measuring approximately 3/8" in diameter across the cluster, tapering through the shoulders to approximately 3 mm wide at the center back. It's possible the area behind the face once held a memento like woven hair. Not marked for gold content but XRF tests to 16k.

Size: Size 6. Because of the pearls sizing is not recommended, the ring appears to have been resized once before but we prefer to avoid heat with antique natural pearls.

Condition: Overall the ring is in remarkably fine condition with a rich antique patina. The pearls appear to be all original with light age-related wear to the nacre and a few subtle scratches. There is a slight area of plain gold at the center back as possible evidence of a previous resizing.

Care note: Please avoid immersion in water, remove before any heavy manual labor.
