Victorian Agate Faith Hope & Charity Charms
A trio of antique charms, a cross, anchor and heart, hand-carved in agate. The symbols refer specifically to the concepts of Faith, Hope and Charity but not only as a Christian religious metaphor; the concepts are universal and transcend specific religious beliefs to apply in a broader sense.
"Faith" can refer to secular objectives as well, such as the faith you have in yourself, your lover or your relationships in general. "Hope" is something everyone holds on to and is necessary to a happy life, regardless of culture or belief system. "Charity" in this sense doesn't just refer to benevolent giving but more to the generosity of spirit we can try to extend to our fellow man, woman and ( being an animal lover I must add ) beast.
Details: Measuring 3/4" long and 1/2" wide, the charms each have a brass bale with a small floral detail at the top, and are grouped together on their origional brass split ring. Hung from a contemporary 18" 14k cable chain.
Condition: In excellent antique condition with a few light nibbles on the cross and light wear to the surface of the agate, both visible with magnification.
