Friendship Charm in Gold or Silver
We cast our handmade 'Friend-ship' rebus intaglio charm after an antique Georgian intaglio seal ring in our personal collection. A rebus is a visual puzzle or pun, where pictures are used to represent words; in this case the word "friend" is carved above a frigate in full sail to indicate the sentiment.
We think of this as the perfect piece to represent the type of bond that can, and likely has, weathered many storms, only to emerge stronger and more faithfully devoted.
DETAILS: Approximately 9/16" north to south and 7/16" east to west; cast in 10k yellow gold as well as sterling silver, patinaed in our special formula to bring out the details. Approximately 2.7 gram weight, not including chain.
The 10k version comes with a 20" gold-filled cable chain. The sterling silver version comes with a 20" sterling silver cable chain.
History: Before the invention of the modern pre-glued envelope, seals were used to set the wax that "sealed" a letter. The words are written backwards so that when pressed into the wax it would leave a readable message.
