Victorian Multi Photo Album Locket

Circa 1880 designed to resemble a miniature memories album this sweet Victorian book locket is crafted in yellow gold with black basse-taillé, aka tracery, enamel. Held closed by a tiny golden latch, it opens to reveal space for six small photographs.

Details: The locket itself measures approximately 1" by 5/8", the mottled dark blue enamel plaques backing the front and back covers, visible in four of the photo areas, are for strength and not noticeable when covered by a photo. Not marked for gold content but professionally tests to 14k. Hung on a fine 24" gold-filled cable chain, the locket weighs approximately 6.1 grams.

Condition: In excellent antique condition with a light patina and some dimpling but minimal enamel wear, there are two small areas of dark solder near the latch on the front and back where it attaches to the covers. One of the photo frames is missing but a photo can still be held in place by a small lip around the oval.
