Victorian Masonic Puzzle Orb

$675.00

An expertly crafted late 19th-century antique rose gold puzzle orb that opens to become a cross, each silver segment inside hand-engraved to include almost the complete catalogue of Masonic symbols: a skull, compass and square, Masonic alter, York Rite arch keystone, pyramid and a crescent moon, among others.

We've had this type of Masonic puzzle orb before, but this one is a bit smaller that most and has a charming folksy quality to the engraving that I really love.

Details: Measuring approximately 5/8" in diameter when closed, not including the bail or jump ring, and 1 1/2" long by 1 1/8" wide when opened fully. The jump ring is marked 375 for 9k, and the outside of the orb has a 9k rose gold shell with the inside segments testing to about 900 silver.

Condition: In excellent antique condition with a rich patina and age-appropriate wear to the outside of the orb, with light oxidization throughout. It opens smoothly and the retaining bars snap easily into place to hold it securely shut.
