Victorian Coral Snake Wrap Bangle Bracelet
Combining the amuletic power of coral with the snake's traditional reference to the eternal bond of true love, a late Victorian bangle crafted of woven red coral beads with beautiful repousse terminal caps. I love the little gleam in its garnet eye and the trace of its original gilding that highlights the engraved details.
This particular bracelet has the French boar's head mark for 800 silver, the coral likely from Italy.
Details: A 10 mm wide tube-like construction with the body of coral beads woven around a steel spring. Slightly flexible with an approximate interior circumference of 7 1/8".
Condition: In excellent antique condition with no significant dents or surface marks, a light trace of the original gilding and some subtle oxidization to the surface of the end caps. There is some minor resin or shellac reinforcement of the beads near the caps, only noticeable with a loupe.
