Victorian Diamond Saint Espirit Pendant
A thousand tiny bursts of brilliant sparkle dance across the old mine-cut diamond studded face of this Victorian pendant, designed in a motif known as Saint Espirit, or The Holy Spirit (Ghost). An especially popular pendant theme towards the end of the 18th century, maintaining it's appeal through much of the 19th with modifications to the drop design, but staying consistent in use of the dove representing the divine power.
Details: Measuring approximately 2 5/8" long including the dove and 1 1/4" wide. Set throughout with 77 natural old mine-cut diamonds, an estimated 5.5 ctw, G/H/I color, SI-1/SI-2/I-1 clarity. Constructed with a silver face for the stones on a 14k backing, the multi-point star in the center of the drop unscrews, this is perhaps to enable the star to be worn separately, although there is no bail on the star itself. This is also an archaic construction method for pieces made of multiple elements, only seen in jewelry from the finest workshops.
The pendant will come with a full appraisal from a third party GIA and AGA certified gemologist.
Condition: In excellent condition with a rich patina to the silver.
