Victorian Amethyst Cross
An elegant late 19th century Victorian cross crafted in 14k yellow gold featuring approximately 8 ctw of richly saturated royal-purple natural amethyst. The gems are set in birfurcated prongs and catch the light with every turn, flashing brilliant highlights of violet, plum and magenta.
Details: Measuring approximately 2" north to south not including the jump ring, and 1 1/8" east to west.
Condition: In excellent condition with a gentle antique patina. Not marked for gold content but acid tests to 14k.
History: In 1912 Amethyst was adopted by the American National Jeweler's Association as the official birthstone for February and is considered the birthstone for the zodiac sign Pisces. It's also a traditional gift for the sixth wedding anniversary.
