Antique Faience Hieroglyph Ring in 18k
An interesting early 20th century Egyptian Revival ring crafted in 18k yellow gold featuring a slab sliced from the underside of a glazed faience scarab, carved with hieroglyphic symbols. The rich gold color and texture of the mounting calls all attention to the beautiful blue-green color of the amulet.
We don't believe this was cut from an ancient scarab, but rather from a piece created for the Victorian tourist market.
Details: Measuring approximately 9/16" north to south and 3/8" east to west across the face. Not marked for gold content but XRF tests to 18k gold. Weighs 2.6 grams.
Size: 6 3/4, not resizable due to the decoration on the band.
Condition: In excellent condition with a rich patina to the gold and light oxidization on the area behind the face, with minimal wear to the scarab.
