A Victorian statement necklace circa 1880, a so-called "book chain" style consisting of silver filigree links alternating with wide circular links. This type of chain was very popular in the last quarter of the 19th century, often used to hold a large locket of complementary design, and gets its name from the links' resemblance to the spine of a book.
Details: Measuring approximately 18" long and 3/8" wide, the clasp has an ingeniously designed hinged opening which allows for a seamless appearance when worn.
Condition: In excellent condition with a light antique patina. The clasp is in strong working order.
