Victorian Paste Snake Brooch
$650.00
An incredibly sparkly antique paste-set serpent brooch, just in time for fastening fall scarves. We believe this coiled snake was originally a Victorian belt buckle, based on the age of the pin findings it was converted at the end of the 19th century to a brooch, the perfect use of its graceful but dramatic form.
Details: The brooch measures approximately 2 3/4" by 1 3/4", crafted in yellow base metal with a silver gilt wash. The hinge and C- clasp are in strong working order and XRF test to 14k gold.
Condition: In excellent antique condition with a rich patina and light wear to the stones but no noticeable cracks, chips or significant oxidization.
