Victorian Moonstone Cameo Ring

A striking ring featuring an intriguing Victorian cameo carved in luminous blue-grey moonstone, the serenely beautiful face framed by soft ringlets reminescent of an ancient Greek Goddess. We found the cameo in it's original 14k gold bezel and mounted it to a winged hoop of our own design, creating an ethereal one of a kind ring. 

Details: Measuring approximately 9/16" north to south and 7/16" east to west across the cameo. The ring has a 1.71 mm width at the center back. The 14k bezel is original, the hoop cast in 14k recycled yellow gold.

Condition: The moonstone is in excellent antique condition with a few light nibbles visible with a jeweler's loupe. There is an inclusion line that reaches the surface and runs east to west under the woman's chin, only visible at some angles, but the stone is secure in its mounting.

History: The lore of the moonstone is romantic and rich. For centuries it's been associated with The Mother Goddess and considered an aid to emotional balance and nurturing. Eastern cultures have attributed it with the power to attract love and it's been used as a talisman for protection while swimming, sailing or traveling on water.
