Antique Victorian drop earrings circa 1880, in sterling silver featuring realistically detailed acorns and oak leaves. The acorn was a popular motif in the 19th century, symbolizing power, fertility and the renewal of life.
Details: Measuring approximately 1 1/8" north to south, including the curve of the ear-wire, 5/8" across the width of the leaves. Not marked for metal content but XRF tests to 925 (sterling) silver. 1.7 grams weight for the pair.
Condition: In excellent condition with a light patina and minor wear to the details. Tiny vent holes in the back of the acorn are there to allow heat to escape during construction soldering, and not to be considered damage.
