Georgian Cornucopia Giardinetti Brooch

$475.00

A late 18th-century antique Georgian lace brooch crafted in silver featuring a cornucopia filled with flowers, similar to giardinetti rings of the era, set with jargoons (an arcane term for white zircon), garnets and emerald paste.

"The horn of plenty" was a popular motif of the era, epresentative of abundant prosperity in all things: money, good fortune, fertility and success.

Details: Measuring approximately 1 3/8" east to west and 7/8" north to south. Not marked for metal content but tests to at least 900 silver.

Condition: In excellent condition with a rich antique patina and age-appropriate wear to the gems, including some nibbles and scratches visible with magnification. The tube hinge and C-clasp are both in firm working order.
