Vintage Egyptian Revival Lapis Scarab Pendant

A vintage mid-century Egyptian Revival pendant crafted in 18k gold featuring a scarab inlaid with lapis lazuli bordered by lapis and gold in a tube-bead effect. I love the glittering flecks of pyrite in the lapis, it adds an earthy ancient dimension to the bold design of the beetle.

Sacred to the Ancient Egyptians the scarab symbolized the holy cycle of life, death and rebirth or regeneration. Their image either worn or displayed was believed to be a talisman of protection against all evils, ensuring good fortune in this life as well as the next.

Details: Measuring approximately 1 7/8" north to south including the decorative bail and 15/16" at the widest. With Egyptian hallmarks on the edge of the frame and dimples on the back that could possibly be hallmarks, but they are very faint. Professionally tested to 18k. Weighs approximately 16 grams.

Condition: In excellent condition with a gentle vintage patina.
