Art Deco Platinum .95 ct Diamond Engagement

$8,000.00

Some rings just stand out, even at a casual glance. This is without doubt one of those, and one of the prettiest Art Deco engagement rings we've seen; crafted in platinum, featuring a transitional-cut diamond of excellent quality with significant brilliance and fire.

It's set in an engraved raised cathedral head accented by six glittering single-cut diamonds, acting like tiny runways to emphasize the exceptional sparkle of the central stone.

At the time this ring was made, circa 1930, diamond cutting technology was moving towards the modern round brilliant, which is still in use today; the stone here is a transitional cut, showing a smaller open culet than its immediate predecessor the European cut, but the absolute pinnacle of modernity for its time.

Details: Measures approximately 1/4" across the face with a rise of about 3/16" above the finger when worn. The center stone is securely held in milgrained prongs with the shoulders and sides delicately hand-engraved with crisp milgrained edges. Simply superb detail. Stamped platinum inside the band. The ring will come with a full appraisal by a third party GIA and AGA certified gemologist.

History: Transitional cuts are roughly dated between 1920-1940, and encompass the progress of diamond cutting technology as it moved from the old European-cut to the modern round brilliant (RBC) known today. They are extremely similar to the modern but have lower crown angles, a larger table, and smaller culet than the OEC.
