Art Deco Amethyst Intaglio Ring

$3,200.00

A striking Art Deco signet crafted in solid 14k yellow gold featuring an antique amethyst intaglio carved with a heraldic-style eagle, wings majestically spread. The design is similar to the coat of arms of Germany, which itself was an adaptation of the medieval coat of arms of the Holy Roman Emperors, beginning with Charlemagne in the 9th century.

Since ancient Rome, the eagle has been a motif symobolizing strength, courage and immortality as well as considered a divine messenger with a direct link to the Gods. Used in heraldic form the outspread wings represent not only the bearer's bravery and power but his or her role as a protector of those under their charge.

A wonderful signet for the litigator or public advocate, but also perhaps beneficent for those who daily navigate the sometimes adversarial commuter trains or carpool lanes.
