Victorian Diamond Bird Charm

$600.00

A sweet late-19th century Victorian bird-on-a-branch charm set with approximately .15 ctw bright old mine-cut diamonds and a sparkling ruby eye. I think the descriptive "delightful" is completely appropriate here.

Birds held significant symbolic neaning in the 19th century, used both as a representation of the soul commended to God's care and as a symbol of loyalty and steadfast love as a bird always returns home to it's nest.

Details: Measuring approximately 1/2" high, not including the jump ring, and 1/2" wide. Not marked for gold content but XRF tests to 14k. There is a tiny sequence of numbers chased on the back, this is likely a jeweler's work number as it was common to lightly enscribe such information in a discreet area.

Condition: In excellent condition with a gentle antique patina.
