Victorian Enamel Paper Clip Chain Necklace with Black Spinel

$2,500.00

The pristine enamel on the links of this circa 1880 Victorian 14k paper clip chain really elevate it to the next level. Each bar link is exquisitely detailed with a tiny floret in a field of jet black. a gorgeous contrast to the bright yellow hue of the metal. The ends are finished with the original bolt and clip clasps, as this was likely originally meant as a watch chain, and as it's a shorter length we've created an extender of natural black spinel beads to give it more versatility.

I'm so tempted to keep it!

Details: The chain alone measures 14 1/4", end to end including the clasps, with a 3.6 mm width. The spinel extender is 4" long, so the necklace is approximately 18 1/4" long when the two are connected. The extender has yellow gold-filled findings, the chain clasps are marked for 14k and the chain is XRF tested to 14k. By itself the chain has a weight of 11.9 grams.

Condition: In excellent antique condition with a light patina but no disfiguring dents or scratches or enamel wear. The clasps are in strong working order.
