Victorian Turquoise & Diamond Necklace

$3,900.00

An antique necklace circa 1840, crafted in 14k yellow gold featuring genuine turquoise of intense robin's egg blue arranged in a compass pattern around a prismatic and approximately .60 ct. old mine-cut diamond, VS-2 clarity and I/J color, finished with a matching turquoise drop and additional stations of turquoise along the chain enhancing the pendant.

The combination of buttery yellow gold, bright pop of blue turquoise and the rainbow fire of the diamond make it a stunning piece. I think this would be perfect for the bride with a Regency aesthetic.

DETAILS: Measuring approximately 15 3/8" long with the pendant drop approximately 1 1/8" long and 13/16" wide. Not marked for gold content but professionally tests to 14k.

CONDITION: In excellent condition with a light antique patina and extremely minimal wear. The engraved barrel clasp is in strong working order.

HISTORY: For centuries turquoise has been attributed with the metaphysical properties of enhancing communication skills, deflecting negative energy, and as an aid to realizing the truth of one's own desires. It's also symbolic of loyalty and devotion, legend holds turquoise given to one's love will hold its color as longer as the wearer remains faithful. Stones of this purity and color were usually from Persia during this period and at the time extremely expensive to source. Diamonds as well only came from a few locations, South Africa had not yet become the world's major source for quality stones and so a necklace of this type and quality would have been meant for someone of wealth.
