Victorian Fancy Heart Locket

An ornately chased 14k yellow gold heart locket circa 1900 featuring a scrolled acanthus leaf motif on the front cover, and elegant monogram engraved on the back. "F.N.S."

Traditionally the acanthus leaf refers to fidelity, loyalty and commitment, wonderful love token sentiments towards those whose photos might be held within.

Details: The locket opens to reveal a shallow compartment that could be used to hold a photo or small memento, retaining the original photo frame but not the glass. Closes firmly with a satisfying snap. The locket itself weighs approximately 7.1 grams, not marked for gold content but professionally tests to 14k.

Size: Measuring approximately 1" north to south not including the attached bail, and 15/16" east to west, hung from a fine 24" yellow gold-filled cable chain. 

Condition: In excellent antique condition with a patina that includes some light marks and a very shallow ding on the back but no deep dents or unsightly scratches, with light oxidization on the interior not visible when worn.
