Edwardian Peridot & Pearl Négligée Necklace

$2,275.00

An elegant antique necklace, circa 1900, featuring genuine peridot of vivid saturation and bright sparkle; the creamy white pearls that dot the links have a soft glow, perfectly accenting the rich green color of the gems.

This particular configuration is known as a "negligee necklace" or "negligee drop," a long necklace terminating in drops or tassels of irregular length. It's a design that well-suited the necklines and delicate dressmaker details of the Edwardian era, and makes a chic statement today.

Details: The chain gives the piece an approximately 17" necklace length with the longest drop adding an additional 2 3/16". The peridot have a combined approximate 5.69 ctw. The chain is 18k and the links and drops are 15k, both marked. The necklace comes with a complete appraisal by a third party GIA and AGA certified gemologist.

Condition: In excellent condition. The barrel clasp opens and closes securely.

History: In addition to being one of the birthstones for August, peridot is traditionally considered to be a stone of emotional healing across many cultures, gemlore ascribes it the ability to effect spiritual balance and mental clarity while alleviating jealousy, bitterness and depression.

It's also believed to be an aid to marital happiness, by fostering understanding and common sense in relationships. A perfect love token combo with pearls, which offer a note of integrity, fidelity and faithfulness.
