Vintage Horse Rider & Dogs Essex Crystal Charm

A charming vintage essex crystal charm circa 1935 crafted in 14k featuring a reverse carved and painted hunt scene with incredibly complete detail down to the tiny crop in the rider's hand. The artist has even managed to capture the exuberance of the companion dogs running by the horse's side, including a side-eye glance from the hound on his immediate right.

I think the mother of pearl backing adds a beautiful luminescence to the back ground that enhances the details.

Details: Possibly originally a stick pin or brooch, the pendant itself measures 3/4" in diameter. Not marked for gold content but professionally tests to 14k.

Condition: In excellent condition with a gentle patina speaking to its dignified age. The crystal is in excellent condition with very minimal paint separation and only a few slight marks to the top of the crystal, visible only with a jeweler's loupe. Any white marks in the photos are glare spots from the lighting.

History: True essex crystals such as this were crafted by carving the image on the underside of a rock crystal dome then painting it in for the detail and color. Usually set on mother of pearl which gives them a lovely shimmery backround that adds a sort of glowing effect to the crystal.
