This sunflower brooch circa 1875 is a sweet example of the floral jewels so beloved by the Victorians. Crafted in 14k yellow, rose and green gold with the blooms delicately detailed in hand-engraved stippling, the texture giving the surface a subtle sparkle in the light.
Sunflowers traditionally stand for innocence, purity and simplicity as well as loyalty and dedicated affection. Perfect as a meaningful wedding accessory.
Details: Measuring approximately 2 1/4" long and 8/8" wide. Not marked for metal content but XRF tests to 14k gold, weighs 7.7 grams.
Condition: In excellent condition with a light antique patina. The clasp and hunge are both in strong working order.
