This adorable little face once graced a stick pin circa 1890, crafted entirely in sterling silver with rose-cut garnet eyes and tremendous detail. We thought it best to mount him on a sturdy shank and fashioned one that resembles a simple leather dog collar, nothing too fancy as that might detract attention from his honest canine charm. He'd be a wonderful companion piece to an antique signet or intaglio. This particular pup resembles a French Bulldog or Boston Terrier with his upright ears and the rounded chubby little face. Measuring 5/8" north to south and just shy of that east to west mounted to a band that starts at a 2.72 mm shoulder width tapering to 2.07 mm by the center back. Currently a size 8 and resizable as needed. Please convo me before purchase for details if you are interested in our sizing service. In excellent antique condition, proudly displaying a gentle antique patina and some slight wear to the garnets. Since the dawn of recorded civilization dogs have had a place next to us as help mate and friend and Victorian society considered them no differently. Queen Victoria herself was a passionate animal lover and raised as many as 15 different breeds of dogs during her reign. The popular breeds of the time included dogs known for their sporting and hunting abilities but also those bred specifically for human companionship. It was quite common for the family portrait, a costly and time consuming project in the 19th century, to include the family dog. ❃The Eden Collective Ring Shop: https://www.etsy.com/shop/TheEdenCollective?section_id=13939721&ref=shopsection_leftnav_1 ❃We are happy to offer layaway.
