Garnet is the stone of passionate devotion and not just romantic or emotional but also relating to one's purpose and goals. It's considered a powerful talisman for luck and success, particularly for women, though Medieval warriors are known to have worn them into battle as a protection against injury and military defeat. Perhaps the perfect present for the rising female executive on your list. Or a congratulatory gift to yourself for recently completing your MBA, it can get a bit aggressive in the boardroom after all. The diamonds could distract your adversaries with their sparkle while you defeat them with your acumen. It's also a thoughtful choice as an engagement stone. Ancient lore says garnet given as a gift between two lovers who must part for a time is metaphysical insurance that they will one day be reunited. Its combination with a halo of diamonds strengthens the message, underlining it with a promise of eternal devotion and faithfulness. In excellent condition with a light patina. Marked with the jeweler's hallmark for Mandeville, Horton & Tibbals, manufacturing jewelers out of Newark, N.J. from 1896-1922. Acid tests to 14k.
