A beautiful Victorian promise ring, circa 1895, crafted in 14k yellow gold and set with three vibrant and incredibly well-matched opal cabochons of rich blues and greens lit within by hints of peach, pink. Set east and west with rose-cut and single-cut diamonds, their silvery-white glitter a perfect compliment to the intense color of the opals. Measuring approximately 1/2" north to south and 5/16" east to west across the face. Smoothly curved shoulders decorated lightly with an Aesthetic engraving add textural contrast to the magical color play of the opals. The band has a 1.65 mm width at the center back, the ring is a size 7 1/2 and resizable at least two full sizes. Please convo me before purchase if you are interested in the details of our sizing service. In excellent condition with a gentle antique patina, and very little wear to the stones. Marked with an unidentified jeweler's hallmark. Not marked for gold content but acid tests to 14k. Victorian promise rings were given to indicate a vow or declaration of sentiment between two people. Not necessarily a promise of engagement, though that could be one meaning, but more to signify sincerely heart felt affection. Gem symbolism was important here and care was put into the combination of jewels in the ring to convey the desired meaning. October's birthstone the opal is considered to be lucky but the luck reserved for the faithful of heart. Traditionally the unfaithful might not find this gemstone's influence as beneficial. To give a gift of opal says you are pledging your loyalty either romantically or platonically, and combining the opal with diamonds assures the sincerity and intended longevity of the promise. ❃The Eden Collective Ring Shop: https://www.etsy.com/shop/TheEdenCollective?section_id=13939721&ref=shopsection_leftnav_1 ❃ We are happy to offer layaway.
