Circa 1880 this antique Victorian love token ring is crafted in 14k rose-tinted gold featuring an inky black onyx intaglio-carved with a single flower in bloom, enhanced by green and yellow gold foil inlay and a glittering rose-cut diamond in the center of the blossom. 

This type of foiled intaglio flower is often referred to as a "Rose of Sharon", rings with the motif became popular during the American Civil War, the image usually carved in amethyst or garnet, as a love token exchanged between soldier and sweetheart. 

Details: Measuring approximately 3/4" north to south including the finial tabs, and 3/8" east to west. The band has a consistent 4.2 mm width all around. Not marked for gold content but professionally tests to 14k. Weighs 4.2 grams total.

Condition: In excellent antique condition, with a gentle patina that deeps the details and color of the gold and minimal wear to the foiling with very slight wear to the surface of the onyx.
