Circa 1900 this large antique Victorian heart pendant was once a lace pin, though it came to us in it's current form. Crafted in solid 14k yellow gold with a cleverly designed attached swivel bail, the front is completely bead-set in lustrous seed pearls that appear to all be original to the piece. It's striking pendant, elegantly simple but with a gracefully dramatic appeal.
Measuring 1 1/8" north to south including the attached bail. Strung on a 20 1/2" vintage gold-filled rope chain, with a large 14k jump ring that can accommodate a more ornate chain if you'd prefer to change it.
In the language of gemlore seed pearls refer to innocence, faithfulness and a sincere but chaste affection; they were a popular 19th century gift for both young unmarried women and brides-to-be. In heart form the pearls send a sweet message of deeply held regard and the promise of faithful devotion.
A wonderful choice for the bride who admires the romance of a bygone era and favors a well crafted aesthetic.
In excellent condition. Not marked for gold content but acid tests to 14k. The pendant weighs approximately 7.2 grams, not incuding the weight of the chain.
